Our production method

The patented production method for BIOREAL® organic yeast makes it possible: organic raw materials, no chemical additives and no water needed to rinse the yeast!

Bioreal® organic yeast

Selected yeast strains are cultured in a culture medium of organic grain and clean spring water which is produced on a purely organic basis.

All microorganisms and raw materials used are guaranteed to be GMO-free in accordance with EC Directive 2018/848. We also steer clear of any chemical additives during the fermentation process and only use pure organic sunflower oil as an anti-foaming agent. There is no need to wash our BIOREAL® organic yeast — this saves resources and is good for the environment. Steam is used for sterilisation, rendering disinfectant unnecessary. The fermentation medium forms the basis for other products, such as bread and sourdough starters.

Production of conventional yeast

Since the grain shortage in the First World War, molasses have been used for conventional yeast production. Molasses is a cheap by-product of sugar production. In addition, the production of conventional yeast requires sources of chemical nitrogen such as ammonia, ammonium salts and alkalis as well as various acids (including sulphuric acid), synthetic vitamins and growth promoters. Conventional yeast must be washed several times after fermentation to avoid unpleasant flavours and odours. The waste water is heavily polluted and difficult to clean.

Our yeast products are produced under completely sterile conditions. It goes without saying that we do not add any chemical or synthetic substances — all the ingredients are entirely natural.
