On 18.07.2023, the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the wood chip plant took place on the Agrano company premises.

By operating a wood chip plant, Agrano intends to replace a large part of the natural gas used today and thus save another 2,000 t of CO2 per year. The biomass boiler also helps to ensure the supply of process heat in the event of a possible failure of the gas supply.

In future, Agrano will purchase the woodchips it uses from suppliers in the region. The firing capacity of the woodchip plant is 2,332 kW. Dust emissions are limited to <10 mg/m³. The waste heat from flue gas is used by an additional flue gas heat exchanger to prepare heating water, which in turn can be used for production and building heating purposes.

Four cold storage tanks, each with a capacity of 70 m³, are used to store the cold needed for yeast production.
